Mobile Ammunition Demilitarization Technologies

Mobile ammunition demilitarization technologies are offered for environmentally-friendly and operationally safe disposal of excess, obsolete or unserviceable munitions. The technologies are installed inside a series of ISO-class transport containers and their major applications are as follows:
- Expansion of capacity of existing ammunition demilitarization plants
- New demilitarization plants set up on „green fields“
- Operational demilitarization directly inside ammunition depots and military bases
- Foreign demil programs and large-scale EOD operations
The technologies themselves can also be used in fixed installations in ammunition demilitarization plants but their main benefits are based on their mobility:
- Avoiding ammunition transport to demil on public roads and related transport costs, safety and security risks
- Being movable from one site to another on trucks/ships/railways
- Minimizing transport costs fitting the containers to ISO size categories
- Minimizing safety distances by using explosion-resistant structures
- Simple adjustments of mutual safety distances within a plant
- Easy reconfiguration for a new demil program
- Can be rented or sold if not further used
- Simpler permitting procedures for operation at a site

The mobile technologies are normally designed and set up type-specific according to a customer's ammunition demilitarization program, respecting its composition, amounts, time frame, budget limits, operating conditions and technical or legal requirements. Example application of the mobile demililitarization technologies is a complex mobile plant for disposal of cal. 100MM tank ammunition.

These technologies allow safe and automatic separation of a projectile from a cartridge case of unitary artillery ammunition and remote unscrewing of fuzes and primers from artillery ammunition and rockets.
- explosives and ammunition processing technologies
Next step in disposal of munitions is processing of explosives and ammunition. Offered technologies are designed for melting out of melt cast explosives from artillery projectiles, for washing out of high explosives from artillery projectiles by action of high pressure hot water jet and for cutting tubular gun propellants to small parts for their subsequent processing to commercial blasting agents.

There are several ammunition elements which cannot be effectively recycled to commercial blasting agents and have to be disposed in environmentally safe manner. For the disposal of these ammunitions the ammunition incinerator and the industrial detonation chamber KV-2 are used.
