detonation chambers
Industrial detonation chambers are automated remote-controlled machinery designed to withstand repeated detonations (up to 16 kg TNT equivalent) as part of a manufacturing process. Their massive structural steel parts are capable in absorbing and dissipating detonation shock wave, explosion heat and accelerated fragments and steadily releasing stabilized post-explosion gases, without irreversible damage.

Industrial detonation chambers are manufactured in partnership between OZM Research and Design and Technology Branch of Lavrentyev Institute of Hydrodynamics, a leading scientific and technological institute for high pressure hydrodynamics of Russian Academy of Sciences – Siberian Division.
These detonation chambers have been produced in Russian Federation for more than 40 years and in dozens industrially used (eight of them also in countries of the European Union). During these years of service, they have proven to have long service life (104 - 105 detonations), high productivity and reliable, safe and simple operation with low investment and operating costs.
The detonation chambers comply with all related EU directives (CE marking provided) and, where required (for demilitarization technologies), they can be equipped with cost-effective off-gas treatment units. All these chambers have comparably low noise and vibration emissions and their operation is not harmful to the environment.

Vertical Detonation Chambers
Vertical detonation chambers are automated industrial machinery resistant against repeated detonations of charges not exceeding 2 kg (KV-2) or 5 kg (KV-5) TNT equivalent in a single shot. They are opened and closed by a back-folded cupola and they are more suitable for compact charges.

Horizontal Detonation Chambers
Horizontal detonation chambers are designed for elongated explosive charges with length as long as 4 meters (for KVG-8 having equivalent of 8 kg TNT) or 8 meters (for KVG-16 with 16 kg TNT), limiting their linear explosive weight to 2 kg.m-1. Horizontal detonation chambers are typically used for explosive forming of metals (long metal sheets or rail parts) but also found their application for environmentally friendly disposal of pyrotechnic munitions.

Special-Purpose Detonation Chambers
Special-purpose detonation chambers are designed for a specific manufacturing program or according to a customer´s specific request. ALFA series of industrial detonation chambers was developed specifically for manufacture of artificial diamonds, but it can also be used for other applications such as quality testing of commercial explosives or for scientific applications.

Laboratory detonation chambers are designed for scientific investigations, research, development and testing in the area of energetic materials, confined explosions and related applications (explosive forming of metals, safe disposal of explosive wastes, safe temporary storage of unstable explosive substances, etc.) in explosives laboratories.
