CHS 100 heat storage test apparatus
The apparatus is used for testing chemical stability of gun and rocket propellants by heating to 100 ºC (time-to-fume test).
The test is based on detection of visible yellow-brown fumes of nitrogen oxides above the sample in a closed test tube heated at 100 °C.
The samples enclosed in glass test tubes are inserted into the holes of the heating block. This heating block maintains homogeneous temperature at predefined temperature within ±0.2 °C. This method enables measurement of several samples with individual time of exposure of each one.
Several models are available which differ in the number of samples measured simultaneously.
